Job Description
The Wellness Director, under the direction of the Senior Program Director, will manage all Wellness programs and the administrative operations of the Wellness Department for the Eastern Carolina YMCA Association. This position develops, plans and administers all new/existing programs, applies procedures and methods to achieve our strategic goals and helps to foster membership/participant engagement. It also ensures programs are aligned with the YMCAs cause and meets the needs of our members and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform excellent service to all members, staff, volunteers and guests.2. Build relationships by using names and initiating conversations with all members, staff, volunteers and guests.3. Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First skills.4. Understands, supports and is committed to the YMCA cause and our role in the community as a leader in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.5. Develop and implement cause-driven programming that promotes Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.6. Actively participates in management team meetings and committees as assigned.7. Understands, follows and demonstrates the Y Competencies listed below.8. Play an active role in the annual campaign and serving where needed on planning committees.9. Work with the marketing department for promotions and communications to ensure consistent messagingaround the Y as a cause-driven charitable organization, including keeping website current and community/organization events.10. Build a culture of philanthropy within your department by building Y ambassadors within yourstaff/volunteer team, building relationships, and creating a case for support (need/response/impact).11. Work to ensure a diverse and inclusive culture at the Y.12. Know and follow the established Human Resources and Finance procedures of the association.13. Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality and safety in accordance with YMCA safety and risk management policies.14. Works with Facilities Director to ensure daily cleanliness and assists with preventative maintenance on equipment and quarterly deep cleans.15. Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook, director handbook, department handbook and the emergency response plan manual.16. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop and schedule all employees and volunteers within your departments.17. Motivate and engage your employees and volunteers to increase retention and understanding of our Causethrough regular staff meetings.18. Lead, direct and/or teach activities/classes/shifts for which employees or volunteers cannot be secured.19. Assist in developing your departments annual budget; monitor and make adjustments as needed.20. Assist in approving payroll for your department as outlined in the payroll guidelines.21. Helps support the Member Service and Engagement Director when needed.22. Conduct performance reviews on all employees within your department.23. Collaborate with other directors, Ys and community groups.24. Assure your own self-development through reading, research, and conference or training attendance.25. Act as a positive role model while implementing YMCA character development and following the four corevalues of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect.26. Assist and help facilitate Y special events as needed.27. Develop, implement and sustain specific health and wellness programs for all ages.28. Provide leadership to and supervise wellness, program and group exercise staff.29. Lead and Develop Evidence Based Programing (LiveStrong, Pearls, ext.)30. Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.31. Purchase parts and upplies for department as needed and assist with coordination of equipment maintenance and repairs.32. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and internship opportunities.33. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.34. Perform community presentations about YMCA programs and initiatives.35. Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.
