Job Summary
The Chief Strategy and Portfolio Director works closely with the top leadership team to discover and assess new partnerships, opportunities and assess the impact and viability of different strategies as well as oversight of all research programs including DoD awards. The incumbent works in a cross-functional environment to guide theanization’s strategic decision-making process while providing leadership and oversight of all aspects of the research portfolio(s). Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure strategic options are presented and considered in a relevant timeframe. Additionally, ensures the proper functioning and execution of the research portfolio through effective and direct oversight. Implements executive leadership decisions in a positive and timely manner.
Strategic considerations necessitate a diverse research portfolio designed for the development of the platform, screening of potential medical countermeasures for mitigating chlorine mediated pulmonary toxicity, considering new potential therapeutic targets for treating pulmonary chlorine induced injury and standardizing the platform for deployment for additional applications, while being poised to on-board new technologies to address emerging concerns.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Master’s degree preferred.
10 years healthcare-related experience required, with progressively responsible management experience.
Responsibilities
Develops institute’s strategic roadmap working with the executivemittee and other senior leaders within the enterprise.
Communicate strategy to all internal and external stakeholders as well as to the public.
Work with consultants, executives, and relevant stakeholders to implement and execute the strategy.
Identify strategic risks, opportunities and provide risk mitigation strategies.
Conduct oversight of the overall administration and administration of the research portfolio at WFIRM through regular reviews and analysis of strategy execution efforts.
Serves as the champion for development and execution of the portfolio by providing leadership, guidance, and influence over the portfolio.
Provide primarily strategic analyses to prioritize, develop, and positively affect change in the portfolio through development and implementation of best practices for portfolio management.
Provides operational leadership and guidance over the portfolio as needed and required to include setting program goals, budget planning & execution, fiscal responsibilities, and monitoring performance of the portfolio.
Ensure effectivemunications are established and maintained across a multi-domain environment to ensure the strategic and operational success of theanization.
Develop strategicmunication enablers to support WFIRM Director and additional stakeholders as needed.
Provide leadership, supervision, and management to assigned staff.
Lead special projects as deemed necessary by the WFIRM Director.
