This role will be based out of our Charlotte, NC office (future site – 2550 W Tyvola R About the Role We are looking for a strategic and results-driven M&A professional to join our Corporate Development team with a focus on acquiring and integrating home services companies, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors. This role is key to our growth strategy and involves identifying owner-operated businesses, evaluating acquisition opportunities, leading deal execution, and supporting post-close integration. The ideal candidate will have experience in the home services sector or working with blue-collar trade businesses, coupled with strong financial, analytical, and relationship-building skills. Key Responsibilities Source, evaluate, and execute acquisition opportunities within the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services sectors. Build and maintain a pipeline of potential acquisition targets, with a focus on founder-led or family-owned businesses across regional markets. Conduct industry research and competitive analysis to assess market dynamics, trends, and acquisition fit. Understand financial models, forecasts, and valuation analyses to support deal underwriting. Lead due diligence processes, coordinating with internal teams and third-party advisors to evaluate financial, operational, and legal risks. Prepare and present investment memos and deal summaries to executive leadership and board members. Negotiate LOIs, term sheets, and definitive agreements in collaboration with legal and finance teams. Partner with operations and integration teams to ensure smooth transition and value creation post-acquisition. Build relationships with business owners, brokers and trade industry networks to enhance deal flow. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 4+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or business brokerage, preferably with exposure to home services or blue-collar industries. Proven experience managing full M&A lifecycles, particularly with small to mid-sized, privately held businesses. Strong financial understanding, deal structuring, and valuation skills. Effective communicator, with the ability to engage directly with small business owners and build trust quickly. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, decentralized environment with multiple parallel deals. Preferred Skills Understanding of the home services industry and its business drivers, including HVAC licensing, technician labor models, and regional regulatory frameworks. Experience with roll-up strategies or consolidating fragmented industries. Familiarity with deal sourcing platforms (e.g., Axial, BizBuySell), CRM tools, and financial diligence platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero). NearU is an Equal Opportunity Employer
