Full Job Description Who We Are:
Mem Global is where Jewish young adults in their 20s and early 30s come to connect, explore, and create meaningful Jewish experiences with their peers. As the umbrella brand for our global suite of programs, Mem Global supports young adults as they bring Judaism to life through thousands of peer-driven gatherings across 25+ countries each year. We’re all about creating spaces where Jewish young adults can lead, embrace, learn, and build the kind of community that will build a strong and vibrant Jewish future for all of us. Mem Global is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, and deeply thoughtful individual to join our team as our first Director of Third Space . What is Third Space at Mem Global? Third Space is an emerging strategy under the Mem Global umbrella, investing in grassroots leaders who are creating spaces for young Jews to connect, network, celebrate and lead. It’s designed for individuals operating in a space that’s more than just a friend group but less formal than a traditional staffed Jewish nonprofit — people who dedicate their free time to building community focused on serving young Jews who aren’t actively engaged with existing Jewish institutions. In New York, many of these efforts have flourished through secular Shabbat clubs and other Jewish social and holiday events that provide spaces for Jews who aren’t typically involved in traditional Jewish organizations. These gatherings often take place at bars, restaurants, and other locations — meeting young Jews where they’re already spending time and bringing Jewish community into the spaces they already love. Beyond New York, similar grassroots initiatives are emerging in cities like Chicago, Austin, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, Miami, and beyond. Events are typically organized by entrepreneurial Jewish leaders who are building community outside of their full time employment. While still in its early stages, Third Space reflects Mem Global’s belief that by growing this ecosystem and strengthening these leaders — through a national network, access to resources, shared best practices, and a community of peers — they will be able to reach and engage even more young Jewish adults across North America. Third Space benefits from an Advisory Group that includes the founding co-chairs of the Jewish Superconnector Collective (JSC), a group of grassroots leaders across the country who created a network of “superconnectors” who can learn from and support each other. The JSCs were catalysts in the creation of Third Space and the two co-chairs will continue to advise and inform its strategic growth. What’s the Role? The Director of Third Space will develop a strategic vision and plan for growing the network of grassroots leaders. The Director will strengthen, convene and grow the Superconnector Network, gaining insights and learning that drive strategic growth. This role will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Advisory Group and our philanthropic partners. All voices are needed at Mem Global (please see our identity statements for more details). Every new member of the Mem Global team is an opportunity for us to introduce fresh perspectives, talent, and skills into both our professional team and our communities. We look for employees from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and life experiences to join our global team. Our vision, in part, is for a fair and equitable workplace, where diversity is celebrated and can truly flourish.
