Department University Police Opening Date 04/04/2025 Closing Date 4/13/2025 11:59 PM Central Job Description Alabama State University, Public Safety/University Campus Police and Security, invites applications for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher. Under direct supervision of the Chief of Police, the Public Safety Dispatcher will be responsible for operating the department’s communication system, camera monitoring, and keeping a record of all activities that occur during the assigned shift. .

Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive, relay, and/or transmit routine and emergency call to police, fire, and other public agencies Maintain a log of radio transmissions, telephone calls, and other information Maintain incident reports of criminal activity or complaints; assist in decal distribution Coordinate with local fire and law enforcement personnel for their response to the campus Ensure proper recording, accuracy, safekeeping, and follow through of all investigative matters assigned Maintain CAD record of all responses and services provided by the police Keep officers informed of noteworthy incidents and emergencies Collect pertinent information callers Perform other duties assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED, excellent communication skills, must have a clear speaking voice, working knowledge of radio 10- codes and appropriate communication guidelines, work knowledge of law enforcement jargon, CAD system and basic computer experience, be available to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
