As our operation grows, we are looking for a reliable, organized, and experienced Lead Dispatcher to oversee daily dispatching operations, support delivery associates, and ensure routes run smoothly and efficiently.
Position Summary:
The Lead Dispatcher plays a critical role in the day-to-day execution of delivery operations. This person is responsible for dispatching delivery associates, tracking routes, resolving issues in real-time, and ensuring on-time performance. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Dispatch Operations Oversee morning launch operations to ensure all drivers depart on time and with complete route assignments Monitor real-time delivery progress and make adjustments as needed Assign backup drivers and redistribute packages when necessary Driver Support Serve as the primary point of contact for delivery associates during their routes Troubleshoot delivery issues, update route data, and escalate concerns as appropriate Provide support for mobile devices and navigation tools Route Monitoring & Performance Use Amazon-provided tools (such as Rabbit, Mentor, and Flex) to track driver location, delivery progress, and safety compliance Maintain visibility on delivery metrics like route completion, on-time delivery rate, and rescues Identify underperformance trends and provide real-time coaching or escalate to management Communication & Coordination Communicate effectively with drivers, Amazon station personnel, and internal team members Ensure clear and timely updates are shared regarding package rescues, vehicle issues, or route delays Administrative Support Maintain accurate logs of dispatch activities, incidents, and route changes Assist with end-of-day wrap-up, including equipment check-in and package reconciliation Support training and onboarding of new dispatchers or driver leads as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred) 1+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatching, or delivery operations Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Proficient with smartphones, GPS tools, spreadsheets, and dispatching software Familiarity with Amazon DSP tools (Flex app, Rabbit, Mentor, etc.) is a plus Leadership experience or supervisory skills preferred Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
