Job Description
Shift Hours:
3:00 PM to 11:00 PMor 11:00 PM to 7:00 AMPURPOSE
OF POSITION
To monitor and accurately operate all Control Center systems and software according to the policies and procedures of the Cooperative. This position will contribute to the efficient restoration of electric power by communicating abnormal situations on the distribution system in a safe manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

Requires the satisfactory pass of WaltonEMC’s employment entrance examination and drug screen.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Require High School Graduate/Equivalent; three years electric utility experience in distribution operations and/or distribution engineering. Prefer prior Dispatcher experience. Require excellent verbal and written communication skills. Require the ability to maintain necessary reports and records, to maintain satisfactory business relationships when in contact with member-consumers, the public and Walton EMC personnel. Prefer a working knowledge of electric system one-lines and the ability to interpretsystem maps.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speakeffectively before groups of managers, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra andgeometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and apply procedures, instructions, and guidelines of a general nature, using independent judgment, to work with a minimum of supervision and to effectively respond to emergency situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Be proficient with the use of personal computer. Be proficient with Windows operating system, Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Outlook and Word.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Require the ability to have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use handsto finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequentlyrequired to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability toadjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
General office environment with irregular hours as deemed necessary by the position. Require ability to work alone at times. Exposure to outside environmental conditions on an infrequent basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
