Job Summary:
The security dispatcher provides services to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, including answering calls, relaying information, and coordinating departmentalmunications. Must be available nights and weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer telephones and over-the-counter requests for security related services
Answer calls for emergencies, which may include life-threatening situations, and coordinating College protocol with outside emergency services
Direct iing calls to proper destinations and take messages when needed
Monitor closed circuit security cameras, as well as security, environmental, and fire alarm systems
Relay any necessary information in a timely manner while coordinating security departmentmunications
Perform required data entry, word processing, and records keeping
Provide exemplary customer service skills both over the phone and in person and ensure positive interactions with the Colbymunity at large
Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education are a plus
Campus security experience preferred
Ability to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment and to make an impact through work as a member of a team and diversemunity
Computer proficiency, experience with data entry and word processing, specifically with Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with access control and records management systems desirable
Excellent written and verbalmunication skills
Ability to use a two-way radio and base station
Clerical skills, including typing and filing
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
Valid driver’s license required and must meet the College’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
This position has significant interactions with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General open office and campus environment. Position involves long periods of sitting. Occasional walking, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting is required. CCTV monitoring andputer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary.
