Emergency 911 Dispatcher Madison County 911 124 North Main Street, Fredericktown, MO 63645 Overview The Emergency Dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety by efficiently managing emergency calls and coordinating responses for law enforcement, fire, and medical services. This position requires a calm demeanor, quick thinking, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations while providing accurate information to first responders and the public. Responsibilities Receive and prioritize emergency calls, assessing the nature and urgency of each situation. Utilize phone triage techniques to gather essential information from callers. Transcribe details accurately for dispatching purposes and maintain clear records of all communications. Analyze incoming data to determine appropriate responses and allocate resources effectively. Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical services to ensure timely assistance. Manage conflicts with callers professionally, employing conflict management skills as needed. Maintain knowledge of geographical information systems (GIS) to provide accurate location details. Uphold high standards of phone etiquette while interacting with the public and emergency personnel. Stay updated on first aid protocols to assist in guiding callers during medical emergencies. Requirements Previous experience in law enforcement or emergency services is preferred, BUT not required. Certification in emergency dispatch or related fields is a plus. Proficiency in data entry with excellent attention to detail. Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions rapidly. 18 years of age or older. Must have a valid ID. Must have reliable transportation. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. First aid certification is a plus, but not mandatory. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
