Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Dispatcher / Team Lead to oversee our dispatch operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our dispatch team, comprising 6-7 dispatchers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the freight market, exhibit strong leadership skills, and be committed to fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership:
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of dispatchers to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
Operational Oversight:
Monitor dispatch operations, providing real-time support and decision-making to address challenges promptly.
Market Engagement:
Manage a limited number of trucks to stay informed about freight lanes, rates, and industry trends.
Training & Development:
Conduct onboarding for new dispatchers and regular performance evaluations to maintain high service standards.
Conflict Resolution:
Handle escalations and resolve conflicts, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to company policies.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work closely with departments such as safety, compliance, and accounting to streamline operations.
Performance Analysis:
Analyze dispatch metrics to identify trends and implement process improvements.
Recruitment Support:
Assist in recruiting and onboarding new dispatch team members as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of dispatch experience in the trucking/freight industry. Proven experience in a leadership, training, or supervisory role. Strong understanding of freight markets, rates, and dispatch operations. Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions quickly. Proficiency in dispatch software and load boards.
