$ 17.94-17.94 USD Join Our Team as a UPMC Chautauqua Services Dispatcher – Level 1! Are you ready to be the vital link between emergencies and life-saving response? UPMC Chautauqua is hiring a full-time Dispatcher to work 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM on a rotating 4-days-on, 4-days-off schedule. This fast-paced role is essential to our 24/7 operations—including weekends and holidays. You’ll use radio communication to dispatch EMS crews for both emergent and non-emergent calls, enter critical information into our computer-aided system, and help coordinate responses that make a real difference. Clear speaking skills and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred. In this role, there is the opportunity to – Dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment in response to emergency and non-emergency service requests via radio, phone, or electronic systems.
Schedule ambulance and wheelchair transport services, including future appointments, ensuring timely and accurate coordination.
Communicate effectively with public safety agencies, PSAPs, hospital departments, and internal supervisors regarding system status, patient transfers, and safety issues.
Monitor alarm systems and respond promptly to alerts in accordance with established protocols.
Document call information, dispatch activity, and service data accurately in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
Facilitate insurance and billing processes by collecting necessary call details and maintaining knowledge of billing procedures.
Access mission-critical systems to support operations during events such as Starflight transfers and mass casualty incidents.
Demonstrate professional radio and telephone etiquette while multitasking in a high-pressure environment.
Qualifications:
Required Attend communications staff meetings as requested
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to pleasantly and efficiently handle radio and telephonic calls for service
Working knowledge of basic ‘Windows’ based computer programs to include Outlook, Word and Excel
Engage in frequent contact with 911 Centers, physicians, EMS/Fire Personnel (paid or volunteer), police agencies, aeromedical personnel, MTS Division staff, patients and families Preferred NYS CFR, EMT, medical terminology or similar medical background
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must have and maintain CPR for the professional Rescuer (AHA or equivalent) within 30 days. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
