Job Description

Admin/Dispatcher Code Enforcement Aiken County (SC) Aiken, SC 29801 JOB This position consists of the responsibilities of dispatching and maintaining communication with each officer in the field. You are also responsible for receiving and dispatching calls for all code enforcement related complaints. Individual will assist in administrative duties for the Director when needed.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The list below is not comprehensive; this job is also responsible for other duties as assigned. 1. Citizen Complaint Service

  • This position receives inbound calls from citizens anywhere in the County concerning animal enforcement, litter enforcement, property nuisance, zoning enforcement.

The dispatcher/administrative assistant takes all pertinent information regarding location, the complaint/issue, name and address if/when available, and contact information of the caller. The dispatcher/administrative assistant determines if someone needs to be dispatched immediately based upon the priority of the call, and if so, which unit to dispatch based upon location, availability and zone assignment. 2. Documentation

  • After complaints are received and units dispatched, if needed, the dispatcher/administrative assistant enters the information into the database for further follow up or research. There may also be other databases utilized such as: PetPoint, GIS based software, SCDMV, Municode, Public Index, Excel, and department calendar. 3. Field Monitoring
  • For the safety of all officers, the dispatcher/administrative assistant will check in with officers periodically when on calls, to be certain all are safe. 4. Administrative duties
  • Filing, case research, FOIA requests and fulfillment’s, procurement matters, data entry, time sheet management, spay and neuter voucher program, community service program, and other duties as assigned.

It is helpful for the dispatcher/administrative assistant to have working knowledge of state law and county ordinances and penalties under the laws, in order to understand priorities or complaints as they are received. This position operates with limited supervision. The challenges of this position are being able to prioritize the calls based upon limited information, multitasking and being able to dispatch someone in a timely manner. Must be self sufficient and able to function independently.
