Roper Hospital in the dispatch office in the Doughty Garage located at 316 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

Schedule:

7:00am to 7:00pm. Position is 3 days 1 week and 4 the other including every other weekend. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The EMT/Dispatcher is responsible for daily care and safe operation of Lifelink vehicles. The EMT/Dispatcher will administer appropriate patient care within current DHEC regulations when indicated. This individual will be responsible for understanding the purposes and function of most critical care equipment. When functioning in the capacity of dispatcher, this individual is the main contact for requesting, coordinating, and tracking the transport process for the service. Gives and receives information vital to the successful planning and transportation of patients. Correctly registers patients being transported, as appropriate. Essential Job Functions

  • Requires the ability to use office equipment, Microsoft Office, copier, telephone, and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Provide accurate information and assistance to callers to facilitate transport requests.
  • Follow established guidelines or use best judgment for matching transport request with most appropriate service.
  • Evaluate each call to determine the appropriate level of response needed and prioritize based on the severity of the situation.
  • Coordinate placement of patients at Roper and BSSF Hospitals in conjunction with the Operations Coordinator or Administrative Supervisor.
  • Perform vehicle-tracking functions during the transport process.   • Certification as EMT-B, EMT-I or Advanced EMT in South Carolina required. National Registry required. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

  • At least 6 months experience as an EMT, and 1 year experience in radio communication or fleet tracking.   • Basic BLS instructor certification a plus. Ability to verbally communicate in a clear, understandable manner.
