St. Albans Transportation Dispatcher 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Saint Albans, VT 05478
General Purpose:
The dispatcher is responsible for scheduling drivers to cover all farm pickup routes and scheduled deliveries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct the daily distribution of raw milk loads to cover orders, maintain customer schedules and monitor for changes Contact drivers with daily delivery schedules Serve as contact for all customer changes and distressed loads. Monitor milk movements to assure all producers remain qualified during qualifying months and between Federal Orders. Maximize diversions and transportation credits where applicable Monitor secondary freight costs and work to minimize those costs when scheduling deliveries. Coordinate dispatching and maintain records of all loadouts Communicate customer issues to Field Manager. Communicate driver issues to Lead Dispatcher and Location Manager Be part of on-call rotation including periodic evenings, weekends and some holidays The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee; but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required. Requirements:
E ducation and Experience One or more years of experience in dairy industry preferred High School diploma Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent telephone, problem-solving, and people skills Good attention to detail and ability to multi-task Good computer skills including MS Office software (Excel, Word) Experience with SAP business software a plus Ability to switch between tasks frequently Answer general questions and direct callers to appropriate people Friendly and polite voice and demeanor Ability to operate in a team environment by communicating effectively Moderate level of mechanical aptitude Valid driver’s license with no significant violations or restrictions Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer including
