As we expand into emergency medical services (EMS), we are seeking a dynamic Ambulance Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and drive the growth of our new EMS department. Job Summary The Ambulance Operations Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of Florida Medical Transport’s ambulance services, with a focus on successfully launching and expanding our new emergency services department. This role involves managing EMT and paramedic teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing operational efficiency, and maintaining exceptional patient care standards. Key Responsibilities:
Department Development:

Lead the establishment and growth of the emergency services department, including developing policies, procedures, and operational frameworks to ensure a successful launch.

Team Leadership & Recruitment:

Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of EMTs, paramedics, and support staff for both non-emergency and emergency services, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team.

Operational Oversight:

Manage daily operations of ambulance services, including dispatch coordination, vehicle maintenance, and equipment readiness, with an emphasis on integrating emergency response capabilities.

Quality Assurance:

Uphold and enhance standards of patient care, ensuring services meet or exceed industry benchmarks for both non-emergency and emergency transport.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, including Florida Department of Health EMS standards, with a focus on navigating requirements for emergency services.

Strategic Growth:

Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies for expanding EMS operations, including partnerships with healthcare facilities and emergency response agencies.

Safety & Risk Management:

Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff, patients, and the public, particularly in high-stakes emergency situations.

Budget & Resource Management:

Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and cost control to support the growth of the EMS department while maintaining operational efficiency.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement:

Build relationships with hospitals, fire departments, and local government agencies to establish Florida Medical Transport as a trusted EMS provider.

Emergency Response Coordination:

Ensure timely and effective deployment of resources for emergency calls, optimizing response times and operational readiness.

Reporting & Analysis:

Provide regular reports on departmental performance, growth metrics, and operational challenges to senior leadership, offering data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business management, or a related field (preferred but not required). Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in EMS, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience in launching or scaling EMS operations is highly desirable. Familiarity with non-emergency medical transport is a plus. Certifications Current Florida EMT or Paramedic certification (strongly preferred). Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record. CPR certification and other relevant EMS certifications. Skills & Abilities Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of managing diverse teams through periods of growth. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate the challenges of expanding into emergency services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, stakeholders, and community partners. Proficiency in EMS dispatch software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. In-depth knowledge of Florida EMS regulations and healthcare compliance standards. The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Availability:

Must be available for on-call duties and flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 EMS operations. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as needed. Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to emergency situations.
