This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Barrow County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Supervises, coordinates, and organizes the day-to-day operations for the E911 Department;Manages the Public Safety Answering point for the county;Supervises the dispatch center operations;Manages and oversees the maintenance of the County Public Safety P25 Radio System;Formulates and administers the Department’s annual budget, approves expenditures, sets goals and objectives; makes presentation to the County Manager.
Administers the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System and mobile CAD data deployment.
Verifies compliance with all guidelines set by GCIC/NCIC and with annual GCIC audits.
Develops and maintains working relationships with other departments and agencies to coordinate emergency communications.
Ensures all terminal operators have completed and continue to maintain GCIC training requirements; maintains records of training.
Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
Reviews employment applications for communications division positions; conducts interviews with prospective employees and makes hiring recommendations.
Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information from citizens, vendors, officers, and outside agencies.
Ensures that all equipment and facilities of the emergency communications center are maintained.
Serves as the Lead for emergency support function as referenced in the County Emergency Operations Plan in cooperation with the EMA Director;Complies reports and tracks various statistical data pertaining to the communications division operations for the Chief of Emergency Services; Maintains the master address guide; andPerforms other assigned duties.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of accounting and budgeting;Knowledge of GCIC, NCIC, and POST rules, regulations, and requirements as they apply to emergency communications centers;Knowledge of administering operations and staff plans for the objectives of the division;Skill in interpersonal communications;Skill in planning, organizing, and delegating;Skill in working under emergency conditions and reacting to changing situations; andSkill in basic computer operations.
