Description Join our team at Chatham Emergency Management Agency as we seek a Disaster Recovery Planner to play a pivotal role in coordinating and enhancing the efficiency of our emergency response efforts. If you possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management or related field along with experience in the field, we encourage you to apply and contribute to the planning, development, community outreach and coordination of our county’s emergency management program. Examples of Duties In this position you Contribute to the development and maintenance of emergency plans, research risks and make recommendations. Assist with maintaining operational readiness of assets and equipment through the regular inspection, operational testing, preventative maintenance, and repair of fixed and mobile equipment. Assist in ensuring the EOC facilities, equipment, and resources are in a constant state of readiness and are fully functional. Support the activation of response equipment and assets. Serve as part of a Duty Officer Program who is responsible for obtaining and maintaining situational awareness during potential or real-world events as well as initial activation of the County’s Emergency Operations Center. Serve as the primary support for the agency’s community outreach efforts by assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of public engagement initiatives. Utilize effective communication skills, attention to detail, and calm demeanor in stressful situations. Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, or a related field, and At least one (1) year of experience in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or Information Technology; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia Class F driver’s license within six (6) months of employment. Must be able to do the following in any combination: sit, stand, stoop, crawl, extended reach, hold heavy objects, work in uncomfortable positions/areas for extended periods of time, and climb ladders of various lengths at both indoor and outdoor locations. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project management. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
