Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Facilities Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the physical environment of an organization. This position involves coordinating a variety of tasks related to facilities, maintenance, safety, and vendor relationships to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained site. Under the guidance of the Shoreline Recreation Team Leader, the Recreation Development Assistant is responsible for strategically and efficiently developing and maintaining APC’s public recreation program, which includes 74 sites. The incumbent will assist the Shoreline Recreation Team Leader with overseeing the cost-effective operation and regular maintenance of APC’s public recreation facilities located on APC’s reservoirs and adjoining grounds, consistent with APC’s FERC Hydro License requirements. This position helps ensure that APC’s Public Recreation Facilities are maintained in a manner that complies with company hydro licenses, policies, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Travel:
Travel to APC Public Recreation Sites on a daily basis.
Maintenance:
Handle day-to-day maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, grounds, piers, boat ramps, and roads. Assist in coordinating with external service providers for maintenance and repairs.
Vendor Management:
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers, including contractors and security personnel. Assist with obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring services are delivered as agreed.
Safety and Security:
Assist with implementing and enforcing safety and security protocols for the Public Recreation Facility and Shoreline Surveillance. Assist in conducting safety inspections and assessments.
Environmental Sustainability:
Promote and implement sustainable practices at the site, such as waste reduction and energy conservation.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain records and documentation related to facilities, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Experience:
Experience and working knowledge of land and building management and maintenance. Experience with hand and power tools, general maintenance/repairs, construction oversight, and landscape maintenance. Experience with site development projects, including earthwork, carpentry, and masonry. Experience in safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment. Experience with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of APC’s reservoir system and its 74 public recreation sites. Strong time management skills. Possession of or ability to acquire a Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of accepting the position. Self-starter, comfortable working with minimal supervision and extensive travel throughout APC’s reservoir system. Ability to interact with the public at recreation sites. Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures. Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Ability to understand and carry out detailed oral or written instructions. Ability to complete scheduled checklists on maintenance procedures and inspections. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Carpentry and concrete experience is preferable. Ability to quickly respond to emergency maintenance requests, including on weekends as required.
