This role assists in managing the budget, coordinates with contractors and vendors, and maintains an inventory of parts and equipment. A crucial part of this role is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, fostering a positive work environment by engaging, leading, and working alongside engineering associates in a friendly and professional manner. Detailed Job Summary Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, ensuring all tasks are efficiently executed, and operations run seamlessly. Assist in managing the hotel’s physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems, ensuring they are well-maintained and operate optimally. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operating at peak effectiveness, efficiency, and safety levels. Establish and manage an effective room maintenance program, providing prompt and efficient resolution to guest needs. Supervise the distribution of repair work orders, closely monitoring the timeliness and quality of completion. Oversee the maintenance of grounds, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public spaces, restaurants, hotel vehicles, and recreational facilities. Conduct thorough and effective inspections to maintain high-quality standards and attention to detail. Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards. Develop a working knowledge of all hotel departments, acting as a technical liaison as needed. Ensure compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures, maintaining accurate logs and records as required. Demonstrate versatility and expertise by performing all associate functions when required. Provide steady leadership and guidance by supervising Engineering operations in the absence of the Director of Engineering. Manage staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives. Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs and prioritize maintenance needs. Optimize parts, supplies, and equipment inventories to minimize downtime and optimize cash flow. Ensure associates have the necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms. Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment, and supplies to enhance efficiency and performance. Contribute to the establishment and implementation of an energy conservation program. Exemplify outstanding guest hospitality, providing excellent customer service, and fostering a positive guest experience. Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, promptly resolving any issues or complaints. Empower associates to deliver exceptional customer service by setting clear guidelines and providing ongoing training to meet guest expectations. Observe and provide feedback on service behaviors, striving for continuous improvement. Conduct regular associate performance appraisals.
