We are currently seeking a dedicated and vigilant Facilities Manager Apprentice to join our on-site team.

Position Overview:
The Facilities Manager Apprentice will be a foundational member of our data center operations team, responsible for the essential physical infrastructure that supports our secure environment. This role focuses on the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and immediate response related to the data center’s power, cooling, and building systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of critical facility operations and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of security and operational uptime.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of all critical facilities infrastructure, including but not limited to: Electrical systems (generators, UPS, PDUs, switchgear) Mechanical systems (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers) Building management systems (BMS) and direct digital controls (DDC) Environmental controls (temperature, humidity, airflow)
- Respond promptly to alarms and alerts from facilities monitoring systems, performing initial assessment and basic troubleshooting.
- Execute routine preventative maintenance tasks on facility equipment as directed by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventive Maintenance (PMs).
- Assist senior facilities staff and third-party vendors with maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all inspections, maintenance activities, and incidents.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with established safety protocols and procedures.
- Support physical security measures within the data center, including monitoring access points, escorting approved personnel, and adhering to strict security protocols.
- Perform general upkeep and cleanliness of facilities areas, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Escalate issues requiring higher-level technical expertise or management attention in a timely manner.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance knowledge of data center infrastructure and procedures.
- Be available for on-call rotation and emergency response as required in a 24/7 critical environment.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical, or data center operations is a strong plus. Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, or a related technical role, preferably in a critical environment. Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics is desirable. Familiarity with monitoring systems and ticketing systems is a plus. Strong observational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions (e.g., Confined spaces, elevated areas). Good with hands Mechanically inclined Not afraid of hard work Punctual Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain necessary security clearances for working in a secure data center environment. Must reside within a commutable distance to Huntsville, AL, and be available for on-site work exclusively.
Physical Requirements:
This is an active role that requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. The ability to work in a data center environment with varying temperatures and noise levels is required.
