Job Summary The Facilities & Space Planning Student Assistant will support the Facilities Planning team in a variety of administrative, space planning, architectural, and construction management tasks across the university campus. Job Description Typical duties include but not limited to: Assist Facilities Planning Staff with general administrative duties such as the preparation of documents, spreadsheets, email correspondence and reports. Process space requests and visit office locations campus-wide to verify space needs. Assist in the by-semester, and annual Space inventory assessments and statutory reporting process. Prepare new spaces within the campus environment by coordinating with external professionals in the preparation of plans. Assist in Construction Management activities such as the preparation and processing of construction documents, pay applications, change orders, requests for information, and field visits to verify construction progress.
Other Duties:
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description Minimum Qualifications:
A desire to learn about the overall Campus Planning, Architectural & Engineering Design and Construction process within the University environment. Currently enrolled as a student at the University and in good academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in an office environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to think critically in analyzing complex situations, mining potential solutions and making recommendations for problem solving. Ability to overcome obstacles to produce a high-quality work product. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Ability to follow instructions and adapt to evolving project needs.
