Job Summary Plans, schedules, and supervises custodial operations across University residence halls, ensuring efficient and high-quality services while maintaining a safe work environment. Assists in developing procedures and policies to enhance custodial operations and promote safety standards. Reports directly to the Custodial Manager and steps in to represent them in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and adherence to safety protocols.pervises and evaluates custodial personnel, managing productivity and effectiveness while ensuring work orders are appropriately distributed. Monitors supply levels and oversees the distribution of custodial supplies to ensure efficient operations. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Conducts daily inspections of residence hall facilities, including laundry rooms, lounges, office spaces, hallways, stairwells, lobby/reception areas, and University apartment buildings, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to maintenance standards. Monitors and inspects all special cleaning requests for residence hall facilities, including student rooms, lounges, and common areas, ensuring that they meet established cleanliness standards. Trains summer temporary OPS custodial staff, monitors their work to ensure standards are being met, and assigns daily responsibilities to maintain efficient operations. Responsible for escorting external vendors in and out of residence halls, ensuring compliance with security protocols and maintaining a safe environment. Acts as a liaison between department staff and custodial staff during special events to address custodial needs and resolve any issues. Assists with the planning and implementation of special project set-up and cleaning tasks. Inspects all residential student rooms to ensure cleanliness and adherence to standards, particularly before Housing check-in, transfer week, and Housing check-out. Investigates and evaluates cleaning complaints from staff and residential students, taking appropriate action to address concerns. Provides recommendations to the Custodial Manager regarding the purchase of custodial equipment and supplies, as well as the development of custodial policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing and conducting regular supply inventory to ensure adequate stock levels, track usage, and identify replenishment needs. Works with Custodial Manager, Building Operations Manager, and Maintenance Manager to determine current and future custodial training needs for staff. Handles special projects as assigned by the Custodial Manager, ensuring timely completion and adherence to departmental standards. Assists the Custodial Manager and departmental staff with emergency and crisis management related to residence hall facilities, including events such as hurricanes, floods, fires, and other unforeseen incidents, ensuring prompt and effective responses. Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator. Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
