04/01/2025 St. Brendan Catholic High School in Miami, Florida seeks a full-time Director of Facilities. The Director of Facilities is responsible for but not limited to overseeing property management, maintenance, construction projects, and operations. The Director of Facilities performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Essential Functions:
Oversee the maintenance of all school facilities, including the routine inspection of the grounds, installations, and equipment to determine necessary repairs, maintenance or replacement.
Oversee construction, landscaping, cleaning/janitorial services.
Plan and direct building and grounds’ improvements to ensure the facility’s appearance positively reflects and enhances the school community.
Plan and schedule work with minimal interruptions to business and communicates related interruptions to principal.
Solicit bids, negotiate, prepare contracts- obtaining best value for cost, and maintain relationship with contracting service providers.
Maintain utilities, including water, power, HVAC, and their dependent mechanical and electrical systems.
Maintain electrical power systems and consult with IT staff or service providers to ensure plant operations.
Formulate emergency backup plans and procedures and work with the principal to ensure that systems are in place for business continuity.
Oversee and direct disposal of waste according to federal, state and local stipulations.
Supervise the work of contractors and service providers for the school.
Support school activities, including athletics and club events, and ensure that appropriate resources are provided.
Support the Office of Student Affairs to ensure the safety and supervision of students on campus.
Support security personnel with automobile and pedestrian traffic on campus.
Work to forecast needs and purchase supplies and equipment.
Responsible for work assignments, performance management and development of maintenance staff.
Review work of team and/or vendors upon completion of each job to ensure that installed components, repairs and projects are functioning according to expectation.
Perform all work according to safe work practices while maintaining a safe, clean work area, and working tool.
Report any hazards when necessary to the principal.
Use personal protective equipment properly when required by OSHA or on own initiative, when hazardous conditions are evident.
Read and interpret plans, blueprints, schematics and other facilities-related documents needed to perform tasks.
Participate in emergency backup plans and procedures for hurricanes and other natural disasters, including recovery/business continuity plans, as required by the principal.
Responsible for any other task as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college/university, preferred.
A participating member of a Catholic faith community with a thorough understanding of and commitment to the Catholic philosophy.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with facilities management, event planning, and/or construction.
