Orangewood Christian School is seeking an experienced and dedicated full-time Facilities and Operations Assistant. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the physical campus of Orangewood Christian School is clean, safe, and well-maintained to support an excellent learning environment. This hands-on position involves routine maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and stewardship of both indoor and outdoor spaces. The Facilities and Operations Assistant is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Facilities and Operations Assistant is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.
Essential Function:
Work independently and as part of team, demonstrating initiative, reliability and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks. Build Christian community by fostering a spirit of service, humility and Christlike character in daily interactions with students, staff and families. Perform basic repairs and maintenance on campus buildings, including masonry, woodwork, fixtures, and furnishings. Carry out routine and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and safety of school facilities. Maintain outdoor areas such as playgrounds, walkways, landscaping, and parking lots, ensuring they are clean, safe, and attractive. Provide regular custodial support, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, restroom sanitization, and replenishing supplies in all interior spaces. Paint interior and exterior surfaces and operate power washers and other equipment to maintain the campus’s overall appearance. Set up and break down spaces for chapel, events, meetings, and athletics—including moving furniture, tables, staging, and AV equipment as needed. Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues such as leaks, spills, weather-related damage, or safety hazards to ensure minimal disruption to school operations. Monitor and maintain proper function of school systems and equipment (e.g., HVAC, lighting, alarms); report larger issues to the Facilities Director. Provide oversight and support to outside vendors and contractors on campus, ensuring work meets school standards and aligns with safety procedures. Uphold all campus safety policies and procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment and safety practices when performing duties. Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies; communicate supply needs to the Facilities Director in a timely manner. Operate, clean and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment (e.g., leaf blowers, floor buffers, ladders, power tools) in a safe and efficient manner. Support campus safety and emergency preparedness efforts, including participation in drills and assisting with campus safety checks. Provide assistance with school-wide special projects such as renovations, summer clean-up, or seasonal campus preparations.
Supplemental Function:
Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification. Remain flexible and willing to assist with unexpected tasks or changes in schedule to meet the needs of the school. Participate in professional development or training opportunities related to safety, custodial best practices, or maintenance operations. Attend staff meetings, chapel services, and other school functions as needed, contributing to a unified and mission-driven team culture. Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director or school leadership.
