The Skilled Nursing Facility Medical Director is responsible forthe overall clinical leadership of the facility, ensuring qualitymedical care for residents and compliance with federal and stateregulations. This role involves supervising attending physicians,coordinating with nursing and administrative staff, developing careprotocols, and driving performance improvement initiatives

Essential Functions:

Clinical Oversight & Leadership Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the medical and nursingstaff. Ensure high-quality medical care in accordance with standards ofpractice and facility policies. Evaluate and monitor clinical outcomes, working to improve qualityof care. Regulatory Compliance Ensure adherence to all CMS regulations, federal and state laws,and accreditation standards. Participate in surveys and audits and implement corrective actionsas needed. Policy Development Develop, review, and revise clinical policies and procedures. Establish protocols for medical emergencies, infection control,palliative care, and end-of-life care. Physician Supervision Oversee and coordinate the work of attending physicians andadvanced practice providers. Ensure proper documentation, timely assessments, and compliancewith care plans. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, andinterdisciplinary teams. Participate in care planning conferences and Quality Assurance andPerformance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Resident Care Conduct regular resident rounds as needed. Address complex medical cases and provide consultations. Preceptor Responsibilities Supervise and mentor resident physicians (MD/DO) during theirclinical rotations in the SNF setting. Guide residents in clinicalreasoning, geriatric care principles, documentation, and patientcommunication Provide real-time and formal feedback on resident performance,professionalism, and clinical competence. Facilitate casediscussions, bedside teaching, and interdisciplinary learningopportunities Collaborate with residency program leadership to align rotationobjectives and learning outcomes. Education and Training Lead or coordinate continuing medical education and training forfacility staff. Promote awareness of geriatric syndromes, polypharmacy risks, andperson-centered care. Investigates and studies new developments in medical practice andtechniques, and recommends adoption where appropriate. Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includesworking in designated emergency shelters or to perform otheremergency duties including, but not limited to, responses tothreats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Education:

Doctorate in medicine (MD or DO) required.

Experience:

Prior experience as a medical director in long-term care orpost-acute settings strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge oflong-term care regulations and geriatric best practices. Strongleadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Certification:

Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, orGeriatrics (preferred).

Licensure:

Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida (activelicensure). Valid Florida Driver’s License required. .

Registrations:

Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration includingschedules: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5.
