Job Description
Position Summary The Plant Operations Manager position is the primary person for all physical plant operations; which includes HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and the Boiler/Chiller plants at both hospitals. The position is also responsible for energy management, permits that are required by the state, and assists the Director of Facility Management with staffing needs, operational and capital budgeting. Responsibilities include; direct daily department operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity and patient satisfaction goals; ensure continuous safety and efficient and economical operation of the hospital’s equipment, machines, plant, and building; achieve set objectives within budgetary limits and in accordance with all regulatory licensing, codes and standards. Monitors energy use, advises Director on enhancements, promotes comfortable indoor climate, provides reports on energy management programs. And is the primary person for Energy to Care. Supervises and evaluates performance of Plant Operations staff, inspects buildings, equipment, and grounds. Inspires colleagues and team to attain goals and pursue excellence. Serves as a project manager on all assigned projects to ensure all projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Responsible for ensuring all TJC Standards, state, and local are met complying with corporate policy and procedures, for managing supplies and equipment in the facility, for promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, for promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and for appropriate resource and utility management. Plans, schedules, and supervises maintenance and repair work of buildings, grounds and utility systems.
