Role:

The School Facilities Manager is a hands-on, detail-oriented leader responsible for ensuring our building and grounds are safe, clean, and fully operational to support student learning every day. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this person will lead all aspects of facilities upkeep, technology support, safety procedures, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver, a clear communicator, and someone who takes pride in helping schools run smoothly behind the scenes. Facilities & Grounds Management + Manage custodial vendor and auxiliary facility vendors (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, repairs), ensuring timely, high-quality service. + Oversee upkeep of school grounds and coordinate with landscaping and post-construction vendors. + Maintain the school’s operations team storage rooms, ensuring supplies are organized, stocked, and inventoried. + Monitor and manage the school’s designated facilities budget. + Conduct weekly walkthroughs and complete punch lists to ensure a clean, safe, and fully operational building—targeting an “A” (>90%) rating 90% of weeks. School Safety & Security + Oversee building-wide safety systems, including arrival and dismissal routines, emergency drills (fire, lockdown, etc.), and safety protocol implementation. + Coordinate with the school’s security vendor (off-duty DeKalb County Police) to maintain a secure and welcoming campus. + Maintain accurate records for all drills and compliance documentation. + Ensure all classrooms and shared spaces are equipped with safety maps, emergency manuals, updated rosters, and emergency bags. + Ensure school meets all federal, state, and local facility and safety requirements. Technology & Equipment Support + Serve as the lead point of contact for classroom technology troubleshooting (doc cams, projectors, speakers, headphones). + Manage student Chromebook inventory: track damages, coordinate repairs, label devices, and ensure classroom readiness. + Maintain a system for tracking and managing staff loaner laptops, including sign-in/out protocols. + Coordinate with IT vendor to resolve issues, fulfill staff tech needs, and ensure smooth tech operations. + Ensure all technology is prepped and labeled ahead of the school year or key events. Staff Operational Support + Support copier and printer functionality: place service calls, change toner, clear jams, and coordinate maintenance as needed. + Ensure the PD space is fully set up each Friday with projector, speaker, and clicker. + Ensure logistical setup and facility coordination for school events and professional development sessions.
