Description of Duties:

As Leader of a team of houseparents, the Lead Houseparent will carry out lawful duties, directions (as per individual duty roster), and group/program/individual activities aimed at supporting and assisting persons with a disability in their living and/or community environment. The Houseparent Lead is also expected to present a positive and professional image of Middle Flint Health & Wellness when interacting with clients, family members, advocates, service providers, funding bodies and the general community. The Lead Houseparent will support people living in their own homes in their day-to-day living, ensuring that they have maximum opportunity for developing valued and valuing lifestyles. Lead houseparent will be clear that their professional engagement with clients is concerned with generating quality personal relationships, which are supportive and life enhancing. Provides opportunities for choice, self-advocacy and participation in matters relating to the home. Facilitates access to community services and facilities. Supports clients in all aspects of everyday living – personal care, washing, cleaning, laundry, preparing and cooking meals, transportation, and shopping. The Lead Houseparent will evaluate clients daily to assess the need for physician/nurse referrals. The Lead Houseparent will lead the development of a home schedule and provide coverage where gaps exist. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must possess sound disability services (or allied health/welfare/education field) experience, knowledge and/or training relevant to the Lead Houseparent position. General awareness of health and safety issues. Valid, unrestricted GA Driver’s License. Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Must be computer literate. Agency is an eligible worksite for the VA Education Benefit Program (Veterans) Agency is an eligible work site for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Middle Flint Health & Wellness services the following 11 counties: Webster, Marion, Sumter, Schley, Taylor, Crisp, Dooly, Macon, Houston, Peach and Crawford.
