The Opportunity:
Under limited supervision, plan, organize, anddesign the most efficient and cost-effective layout of organizationfacilities and buildings including architectural and structuralcomponents. Estimate material and labor costs for repairs,replacements, and improvements. Serve as liaison with outsidecontractors and vendors of equipment and supplies. May be involvedin office move coordination. Avantor is looking for a dedicated Sr.
Facilities & Maintenance Technician to join our Biopharma team,supporting building and equipment related maintenance in afast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will be afull-time, 1st Shift position based out of our Devens, MA facility.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required;Technical School preferred
Experience:
3 years applicable directexperience in a similar position
Collaboration Tool:
MS Office(Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Applied maintenance experience in aGMP manufacturing environment Excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills Knowledge of basic HVAC systems requiredExperience working in an ISO Certified, FDA Regulated, or cGMPenvironment Industry experience with machine set-up fundamentalsand solid troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
5 yearsof experience Comprehensive understanding of maintenance,reliability, Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance, and ProcessSafety Management best practices How you will thrive and create animpact Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment bycompleting preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors,pneumatic equipment, and production machines. Following diagrams,sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, andengineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Maintainsequipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock todetermine inventory level. Maintains safe and clean workingenvironment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains accurate history logs for all machines for use inidentifying and diagnosing problems. Leads in troubleshooting,repairs and maintains electrical and electronic circuitry,hydraulic systems, plumbing, valving, filters, tanks, pumps, etc.
Strives to improve machine performance, and to minimize downtimethrough prior planning and quick thorough machine repairs. Providesmechanical support for production personnel and the FacilitiesDepartment. Answer security alarm calls as needed. Respond andparticipate in an on call after hours rotation, including the useof a BMS system. Performs other duties as assigned and reports allfindings of the job to the supervisor.

(Those necessary to perform the job competently) Goodwritten and oral communication skills Strong attention to detailFlexible and self-motivated Knowledge of basic plumbing,electrical, and HVAC systems Ability to repairelectrical/mechanical machinery throughout the plant; necessaryskills include electrical, pneumatics, PLC logic.
ENVIRONMENTALWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT
(Under Typical Positions)Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborneparticles, dust or gases. The employee is occasionally exposed totoxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environmentis usually moderate. Required to stand and walk for a large part ofthe working day. Physical requirements include talking, hearing,bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder height,crouching, kneeling, balancing and pushing/pulling. Also requiressome lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds with orwithout assistance. Use of both hands for repetitive actions suchas grasping and manipulating. Specific vision abilities includeclose vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability toadjust focus.
