Facilities ServicesJob Summary:

Participates in planning, development, coordination, implementation, and management of daily operations of Facilities Services. Oversees personnel management and staff development for Facilities Services units. Manages the delivery of facilities services across UMMC campuses and champions department initiatives, goals, policies, and procedures.

Education & ExperienceEducation and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of facilities experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience. 

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:

Valid MS Driver’s License 

Preferred Qualifications:

 Healthcare experience Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of facilities operations, maintenance, and repair practices. Knowledge of management principles, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures to support department goals and initiatives. Ability to act as a catalyst for department improvement. Project management, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to use appropriate judgement to resolve issues and effectively handle challenging situations. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to provide improvement in workplace safety and environment practices and procedures. Proficient computer skills. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Administers and oversees a variety of Facilities Services units such as fleet management, parking and transportation services, valet, motor pool, and grounds.

Oversees long-term maintenance plans and projects across UMMC campus (e.g. roofs, paving).Report job completion statistics such as staff, materials and machinery expenditur s.

Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.

Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, applying expenditures, enforcing policies and procedures, and making decisions regarding the purchase of materials and services.

Act as a department liaison between Facilities Services and external parties (e.g. Jackson State University, City of Jackson, Mississippi Department of Transportation).Assign, direct, and evaluate employee work; oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.

Coordinate with other facilities leadership and their shops on maintenance and repair projects.

Participate in development of short range and long-range department goals and acts as a champion for department initiatives.
