$22.00 – $25.00 commensurate with experience

Employment :

This is a full-time position scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Trade apprenticeship or Associate’s Degree in a technical field preferred. Five years experience in related field. Additional experience may substitute for formal education. Computer skills required. Ability to complete documentation requirements. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and ability to travel in the Rochester area.

None Summary/Objective:

Responsible for performing repair and upkeep, preventative maintenance, and tracking of facilities improvement for the Residential Program located at CP Rochester and Happiness House.

Essential Functions:

Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. Performs repairs and enhancements in the areas of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Understands operation of HVAC residential systems and all associated equipment. Troubleshoots problems and makes repairs to systems. Proficient in 110-volt AC repairs and installation, loads, and breaker capacities. Troubleshoots lighting and power problems. Maintains interior walls. Paints and patches as required in repairs or restoration. Is able to draw and identify specifications for doors, countertops, and cupboards. Installations when needed. Makes repairs to all floor surfaces, ceramic tile, and ceiling installations. Conducts preventative maintenance inspections, makes recommendations for inspection improvements; including techniques, scheduling, and tracking. Troubleshoots security, fire, and telephone systems. Communicates, schedules, and provides follow-up on all maintenance requests. Works with Vice President and Director of Residential Services to ensure that maintenance program budgets are adhered to. Work cooperatively and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, the individuals served and contractors. Ensures contract work is completed as specified. Purchases maintenance materials for program and works with Finance Department as appropriate to secure supplies. Maintains residential vehicles and ensures registrations, inspections and vehicle upkeep and repairs are maintained. Provides assistance with snow removal and salting as needed. Completes all documentation requirements in a timely manner. Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employee will be required to: sit, stand, walk, lift up to 70 pounds, carry, bend, push, pull, grasp, reach, stoop and crouch, crawl, determine color, visual acuity, speak clearly, and listen to spoken communication. Ability to perform manual tasks with moderate to high levels of physical strength.

Mental Requirements include:

general intelligence, motor coordination skills, coordination of eyes, hands and feet, verbal intelligence and numerical intelligence.

Environmental conditions include:

Noise conditions, injury exposures, atmospheric exposure to disinfecting and odor reducing cleaning supplies, cleansers and chemicals.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the work hours but employee will be expected to work at or travel to any of our partner agencies including Happiness House.
