Temple Beth Abraham Assistant Facilities Manager Job Description Job Summary:
You will be responsible for keeping assigned areas clean and in an orderly condition, you will be required to execute the scope of work for all assigned locations and locations assigned to you by management for coverage. This is an evening and weekends position with the option of an onsite apartment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with the cleaning crew to ensure that all classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas are cleaned properly.
- Support and adhere to security protocols.
- Setting up rooms for events and classrooms for the religious school.
- Cleaning up after the day’s events and setting up for the next day to ensure that events run smoothly and on time.
- Setting up for Shabbat services, heating and putting out food/beverages and cleaning after kiddush/meals.
- On Saturdays when B-Mitzvahs occur, the Assistant Facilities Manager will stay on site to provide Facilities coverage.
- Other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager or Director of Administration and Membership.
Skills and Education Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must be able to read MSDS & chemical labels.
Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years’ experience in maintenance in a mid-size facility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Requests assistance when lifting or moving items too large or too heavy, and uses cart.
- Wears gloves as needed.
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, collects trash, polishes floors using buffing/burnishing machines, performs high dusting, spot washes and doors as needed, cleans furniture, empties trash receptacles, cleans radiators, railings, stairways, lights, vents, and doors.
- Use a ladder for door frames and cleans picture frames.
- Consistently maintains adequate supplies throughout daily workday. Typically, is in control of all tools and equipment needed to perform daily tasks.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas thoroughly; remove spots from carpet using a carpet spotter, move all necessary items to vacuum the entire carpeted area. Polishes floors using burnishing machines.
- Assist manager in managing building maintenance, including HVAC systems, boilers, machinery, equipment, lighting, electrical systems, and furnishings. Ensure safety, cleanliness, and a pleasing appearance while meeting operational needs.
- Inspect the building including roofs and grounds. Addresses and notifies supervisor of any required cleaning or repairs and ensures compliance with fire and always building codes.
- Conducts building repairs and improvements, including painting, machinery and equipment maintenance, plumbing, lighting, and electrical work. Inform your supervisor immediately when major repair work is needed.
- Maintain and clean all offices and common areas in the building.
- Assist your supervisor in conducting bidding for large repairs, maintenance, service contracts, and leasehold improvements.
- Produce and maintain a log of all repairs and maintenance requests and completion of requests with your supervisor
- Keep all doors and locks in good condition.
- Oversee daily trash removal, ensuring proper handling and compliance with recycling laws.
- Support adherence to Fire Department regulations by keeping fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and extinguishers in working order and inspecting fire hazards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in building maintenance is required.
- Understanding of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry; Knowledgeable with repair and general maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Flexible availability, including the ability to work evenings and weekends, and respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Responsible, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and addressing maintenance needs.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.
