Job Description
East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Director of Athletic Events & Facility Operations! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. As the Director of Athletic Events & Facility Operations, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable ensuring that all logistics of athletics events are precisely executed. You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Director of Athletics to maintain facilities for all ESU intercollegiate athletics sports. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your sports management background and athletic event coordination experience all while collaborating with various departments to host successful events. To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to skillfully pivot between tasks. Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule to work from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Director of Athletic Events & Facility Operations. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
Works closely and cooperatively with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff and administrators to provide a first-class experience and to ensure that the needs of the various constituents are met.
Communicates and collaborates with academic departments (Athletic Training and Exercise Science) to meet scheduling needs of all constituents for use of KFH and associated spaces.
Processes requests for use of non-athletic campus spaces for athletic events/activities as needed using EMS.
Coordinates the arrangement of services with campus police, food services, physical plant, and maintenance personnel prior to event day.
Picks up and secures the event start up cash and deposits revenue at the completion of the event following ESU established policy and procedures.
Creates and updates the master schedule for Koehler Field House (KFH), KFH classrooms, and outdoor fields consistent with established policy and procedures using EMS technology system.
Conducts regular walkthroughs of outdoor athletic facilities to identify and subsequently address proper usage and any maintenance needs and concerns.
Schedules, supervises and approves hours worked for all light duty staff, work study and volunteer/paid event support staff.
Serves as the athletic department’s primary point of contact with the following offices: facilities, food services, physical plant, campus police, and camps and conference services.
Works with the Office of Camps and Conferences to determine space availability and coordinates with that office to arrange services for execution of event.
What We’re Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred. Experience in athletic event coordination preferred.
Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
Capability to think independently, make decisions and solve problems. Collaboratively work with department members and campus personnel.
Exhibits professional demeanor at all times. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
