Forklift Operator Position Available In Broward, Florida

Forklift Operator Job Description This distribution center is responsible for supplying local stores with lumber, pipe/conduit, and ladders. Candidates will be operating a sit-down forklift, offloading railcars or flatbed trucks, and performing receiving functions. They may also be asked to do staging using a forklift to prep for orders going out to the stores. Candidates will read pick tickets, drive forklifts, and use banders to keep loads together. Additional tasks include bundling pipes and using a forklift. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift to offload railcars and flatbed trucks. Perform receiving functions and staging for outgoing orders. Read pick tickets and drive forklifts. Use banders to secure loads. Work on bundling pipes. Use lift equipment to load and unload bulky and heavy products from flatbed trailers and railcars. Drive 20k lbs forklifts that can lift up to 12k lbs. Stack products up to 28ft high. Handle lumber units up to 16ft wide. Unload products from rail flat cars and box cars. Essential Skills 2+ years of forklift experience. Experience with sit-down forklifts and moving large, heavy materials. Experience in loading and unloading trucks and containers. Order picking, pallet jack, inventory, RF scanner, and material handling experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Caterpillar or Yale forklifts is preferred. Warehouse experience. Experience with a bander is helpful. Experience moving heavy items with a forklift. Experience with lifting and stacking ladders. Previous lumber experience is a plus. The climate outside impacts the temperature inside, so it can be hot or cold depending on the weather. The environment is dusty, and there is no air conditioning in the warehouse. The position is for the 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pompano Beach, Florida. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 – $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
