Contract to hire Job Description We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator and Material Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a slip sheet forklift, loading and unloading trailers, and managing inventory. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow safety protocols, and a strong understanding of storage and rotation procedures. Responsibilities Properly inspect and operate a slip sheet forklift. Safely load and unload trailers, ensuring weight distribution, load integrity, and adherence to all shipping instructions. Understand and follow storage and rotation procedures. Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations, including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas. Apply knowledge of machine loading capacity and loading schedules to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of items. Use protective materials and strapping equipment to secure loads; remove strapping and wrapping upon delivery and dispose of waste materials safely. Report any problems with materials or transportation to the supervisor. Manage and pile drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas. Service equipment as needed and report mechanical or electrical difficulties to the supervisor. Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products. Operate forklift safely and efficiently. Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas. Identify and label materials, recording their locations in the warehouse/on shelves to maintain inventory. Prepare finished products for shipment by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading them. Perform other related duties as requested. Essential Skills Experience with slip sheet forklift operation. Ability to operate a regular sit-down forklift. Proficiency in palletizing and material handling. Strong understanding of inventory management. Ability to perform at least 5-10 complete loads per day, with each load containing 30 sheets. Clean driver’s license. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse. The work shifts are from 8am to 5pm or 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves using various equipment and tools to handle materials and ensure efficient warehouse operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 – $18.00/hr.
