NA POSITION SUMMARY
Truck drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of product to our customers in Warehouses located in Dade, Broward, Pompano, Key West and West Palm Beach Counties and to Cruise Ships located in Port of Miami, Port Everglades, Port Canaveral and Port of Tampa. Drive a truck or van with a capacity of under 26,000 GVW, primarily to deliver or pick up merchandise or to deliver packages within a specified area. May require use of automatic routing or location software. May load and unload truck.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for loading/unloading merchandise from the Warehouse to customers Follow routes to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries Verify merchandise against shipping manifest Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions. Obtain manager signatures on receipt of delivery Back-up warehouse responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Be a team player who cross trains on all warehouse functions Follows all safety regulations Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water levels, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. Present bills and receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded. Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles. Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers. Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries. Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statement in accordance with regulations. Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions. Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons in order to transport material to and from specified destinations such as warehouses and ports. Use and maintain the tools and equipment found on commercial vehicles weighing and measuring devices. Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or Equivalency and a minimum of 2 years’ experience driving preferably tractor-trailer experience; ability to operate a straight truck and tractor-trailer combinations. Prior grocery store and/or consumer products experience a plus. Customer service experience preferred. Ability to communicate in English (both written and verbal is Required) Bilingual (both written and verbal) Must have a current/valid driver license (CDL is required.)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to operate a two or four-wheeled hand-truck Ability to operate all types of industrial power trucks Physically fit, able to lift cases weighting up to 50 lbs. Familiarity with DOT regulations Must present a neat and professional appearance as the job requires personal contact with sales team and guests Able to follow and execute instructions with minimal supervision (travel logistics) Must have flexibility and able to pay attention to detail Good Interpersonal skills/customer service Able to maintain clean truck exterior/interior Ability to maintain safe operation and clean appearance by complying with organization operational policies, procedures and standards as well as state and local driving rules and regulations Ability to work on weekends during busy season is a must
