This role involves operating a 4-fork or extended carriage forklift to load, unload, and transport large, irregular, or heavy materials such as lumber, steel, piping, and oversized pallets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of load dynamics, excellent spatial awareness, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities include:
Operate a 4-fork forklift to lift, move, and position various large materials with care and accuracy. Ensure safe maneuvering through tight aisles, ramps, loading docks, and outdoor yard spaces. Perform daily equipment safety checks and routine maintenance inspections, including monitoring fluid levels, brakes, and tire pressure. Follow OSHA safety standards and company protocols at all times. Communicate effectively with team members and spotters to coordinate load movements. Maintain accurate records using handheld scanners and assist with shipping/receiving documentation. Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly. Support warehouse operations through inventory counts and general labor as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of forklift experience, specifically with 4-fork or extended carriage forklifts. Strong understanding of load weight distribution and safe handling practices. Ability to read and interpret shipping manifests, loading diagrams, and handling instructions. Reliable communication skills and strong attention to detail. Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed outdoors in an industrial yard or construction site setting. Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, loud noise, and heavy machinery is expected. Requires frequent physical activity, including standing, bending, stooping, and climbing into and out of forklifts.
