About The Opportunity About The Opportunity This is a 3rd shift position – Core Hours are 11:00 pm to 7:00 am 5 days/week. This position may be required to work overtime. Position Summary:
The Forklift Operator Shipping & Receiving scans materials to stock locations and operate equipment in the shipping area. The forklift operator drives an industrial truck equipped with forklift, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in the facility. Forklift operations also include operating the banding and stretch wrap process, loading & unloading trucks, and scanning products to stock locations.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines Transport finished jobs or goods into correct areas Move pallets of goods for jobs in process to appropriate area as needed Place finished goods which are on a designated pallet to the correct location Accurately complete forklift operator’s checklist Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues Confer with managers to ensure coordination of other production lines Conduct a physical inventory of all corrugated materials by performing daily cycle counts Perform inventory audits on a daily basis or as needed Maintain a clean and safe work area by moving empty pallets to a designated area, and by keeping neat, orderly and safe stacks of stock in storage areas Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer. Adhere to daily production schedule, and make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals Assist other forklift operators as necessary and serve as backup to Shipping Lead Person Complete necessary reports and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Shipping & Receiving, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, & Quality Data Assist supervisors on the production floor to maintain a safe work environment Perform all functions accurately as required in our WMS system Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors Performance Measures and Outcomes Adherence to safety policies and procedures Quality of work Production goals Education/Certification Forklift license High school diploma or equivalent Work Experience Desired Prior work experience in the corrugated industry 5 years prior work experience as a forklift operator Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed Ability to effectively work in teams Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate Able to apply concepts of high school math Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or graphic form Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
