Forklift Operator F3 Metalworx 12069 East Main Road, North East, PA 16428 Overview This posting is for the weekend shift which will operate on a schedule of (3) 12-hour shifts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, approximately 6:30/7:00 AM to 6:30/7:00 PM. All new hires for the weekend shift must train on first shift (Monday-Thursday/Friday, 6:30/7:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM) until the weekend shift is staffed and ready to transition. Job Description The basic function of this position is to ensure that all supplies (tooling, packaging, product, etc…) is brought to the line in a timely manner, as well as removing finished product from the line to be loaded onto the appropriate trailers, or in the proper staging area as instructed by the supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas. Move materials to designated locations within the warehouse, ensuring proper organization and accessibility. Assist in building pallets and preparing shipments for delivery. Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and other heavy equipment to ensure safety compliance. Adhere to OSHA regulations and company policies regarding safety and materials handling. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and address any operational challenges. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is stored properly after use Identify the following: Proper packing material as described in process manual for each customer Minimum and maximum height allowances Proper staging areas and correct product placement Where raw product is located to be brought to the assigned lines Assist in the establishment of new part setup Follow production schedule and identify any urgent or new parts Report any broken equipment or tools to supervisor in a timely manner Sort, pack, wrap, tie, and label products per customer and company requirements as stated on process sheets Communicate clearly with set up, loading, and packing to get tools and packing material to the line in a timely manner to avoid down time Communicate with packers to ensure that items are being properly packed Assist in training new forklift drivers Provides back up for other departments as needed Identify and verify the following Part numbers/names Counts- reports any discrepancies to supervisor Identifies transitions between parts and notifies supervisor is assistance is needed Initiate process improvements Keep work area organized and clear from unnecessary debris. Requirements Ability to drive, understand and follow all safety rules and regulations during forklift operation Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on your own and up to 200+ lbs. in a team lift or with equipment assistance Ability to walk, bend, stoup, crouch, kneel, climb, stand for 10 hours Ability to work in high temperatures Ability to communicate needs and concerns in a timely manner Ability to read and understand the daily schedule Ability to hear horns, buzzers, and an intercom page Ability to wear proper PPE- safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel or safety toe shoes or boots, and seat belts Skills Proficient in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment. Knowledge of warehouse operations, including inventory management and materials handling. Familiarity with OSHA standards related to forklift operation and workplace safety. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating independent problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in loading, unloading, and inventory tasks. Previous experience as a forklift operator or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
