  • Performs a wide variety of standard and specialized preservions and/or packing and repacking work. Uses various protective/cushioning techniques for custom packing of a variety of items including hazardous merials to ensure safe and damage free movement.
  • Packs and accomplishes certificion of all types of hazardous cargo in accordance with federal regulions.
  • Uses and maintains various types of equipment, such as packaging and preservions equipment, he sealers, shrink wrapper, and stapling machine.
  • Plans, constructs and repairs a full range of standardized shipping and similar items.
  • Performs duties and operes equipment in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulions.
  • Operes one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads of up to 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilite loading and unloading duties.

JOB ELEMENTS

Your qualificions evalued on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: I. Knowledge of a variety of standard and specialized preservion, packing, processing methods and techniques; packing containers; protective devices; and cushioning, packing, and preservion merials. 2. Knowledge of safety regulions, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of various properties and characteristics of a wide variety of wood and wood products. 4. Skill in the use of packaging and preservion equipment, preservives, and specialized processes including he sealers, shrink wraps, foam-in-place packaging, electro-sensitive discharge merials handling, and sensitive/classified merial handling as well as desiccants, preservive oils, and cleaning solvents. 5. Skill in the use of manual or computerized equipment to access regulory and shipping dabases for instructions regarding packing, shipping, and labeling of nional and internional shipments. 6. Skill and dexterity to safely opere hand lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and warehouse plform lifts. Skill in using woodworking machinery, hand power tools and reled handcrafting equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical orders and sketches. Ability to interpret and apply hazardous cargo shipping instructions. Ability to opere a forklift and to interpret instructions, specificions, etc. reled to motor vehicle operion and preventive maintenance.

Physical Effort:

Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas th frequently require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of parts, equipment, and packed containers th weigh up to 70 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically done inside in well lighted, heed, and ventiled areas, but the incumbent may occasionally work outside. Work is sometimes dusty, dirty, greasy, and poorly lighted. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, or other injuries when using hand tools and powered tools. May be exposed to noxious fumes, skin irritants, and flammable chemicals as a result of working with packing foams, various types of preservives, or other hazards from hazardous cargo.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE
