Assistant Director of Development 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 8505 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32217 Summary The assistant director of development is a motivated and detail-oriented person to support the fundraising and donor engagement efforts of our growing development team. This role works closely with the Development Director and CEO to advance the organization’s fundraising strategy, cultivate relationships with individual and corporate donors, and manage key projects including donor communications, special events, and grant coordination. Essential Functions Donor Engagement & Communications Assist the Development Director in designing and implementing donor appeals, promotional materials, and stewardship campaigns. Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, ensuring consistent and personalized communication to foster ongoing support. Corporate Sponsorships Collaborate with the Development Director and CEO to identify, solicit, and steward corporate sponsors. Help maintain corporate relationships through regular updates, recognition efforts, and engagement opportunities. Fundraising Events Assist in planning and executing annual fundraising events, including logistics, promotion, donor engagement, and follow-up. Contribute creative ideas to enhance donor experiences and maximize event impact. Grant Management Oversee aspects of grant administration, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met. Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and outside grant contractors, maintaining clear communication and documentation. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, fundraising, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, or fundraising. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and necessary correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Skills in oral communications, interviewing, and selecting are required. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This function requires the ability to calculate, compare, diagnose, estimate and verify. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to work with computer software programs: Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiar with copiers and calculators. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and move throughout the building and surrounding areas. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and might occasionally need to lift young children to aid staff in the event of an emergency. Work Environment The working conditions are in a multilevel building with some steps, air conditioning and on the bus route. The noise level can be noisy.
