SUMMARY:

The Grants Specialist is responsible for guiding the organization’s grant strategy and works to write and submit grants. The position requires strong organizational and networking skills, the ability to work on various projects simultaneously and a strong eye for detail. This position will be accountable for developing and managing budgets while growing revenues and managing expenses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(includes, but not limited to) : In conjunction with the Executive Director, develop and implement a well-coordinated individual giving program designed to cultivate and solicit support from a portfolio of individuals and family foundations. Achieve financial goals set forth by the Executive Director. Create and manage an annual giving plan to include but not limited to; individual donor initiatives, strategies, stewardship, benefits, giving levels, recognition, and revenue goal setting. Identify, qualify, cultivate, and steward relations with existing and prospective individual donors. Serve as an active prospect identifier, targeting prospects for personal visits and moving annual donors through the donor pyramid into the next giving level. Make creative connections between and among people, events, programs, and their associated circles. Participate in donor engagement opportunities such as special events, and initiatives as necessary. Lead or support the development of communication tools for fundraising events (i.e., talking points, scripts, presentations, videos, testimonies, etc.) and individual donor solicitation and stewardship (i.e., agendas, talking points, presentations, proposals, testimonies, etc.). Oversee the development, management, and implementation of an individual donor recognition plan including the timely acknowledgement and follow-up for all individual donors and prospects. Support the Executive Director in monitoring and reporting revenues and expenses associated with individual giving and grant strategies. Create and manage the annual grants plan for the organization. Manage a portfolio of donors (individual, corporate, funders) that have capacity and interest in supporting Voices For Children (Programs, Services, Events, etc.). Manage and develop relationships with assigned vendors, consultants, staff, interns, and volunteers. Conduct research and analysis for donor prospects. Maintain accurate and complete records of all communications with donors. Support the Executive Director in internal and external reporting obligations. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

: Bachelor’s degree, preferred. 3-5 years of experience with grants. 3-5 years of non-profit fundraising and/or sales experience. Experience in the areas of organizational planning and management. Experience with budgeting, planning and project administration. Working knowledge of computers and basic office equipment.

SKILLS REQUIRED

: Outstanding interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients, donors, and vendors. Excellent management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite (e.g. – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Familiarity with fundraising databases. Experience in writing direct mail appeals, e-appeals, websites, and social media communications. Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to meet and exceed revenue goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

: Light to moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous activities of an administrative nature to include: Sitting and/or standing for an extended period of time. Lifting up to 25 lbs. Working in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Using manual dexterity sufficient to handle and reach items and work with hands and fingers to use office equipment, such as computers, telephones, copy machines, etc. Using close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception.
