Full Job Description About Young Musicians Unite:

Since 2013, Young Musicians Unite (YMU) has worked to provide free music education to students, regardless of socio-economic background. Partnering with schools across Miami, YMU delivers music programs that promote personal development, creativity, and leadership. We currently serve 9,062 students across 61 schools and operate on a $5.9 million budget, with the goal of expanding our reach and impact in the coming years.

Position Overview:

YMU is seeking a Senior Grant Writer to join our team during a pivotal time of growth. The Senior Grant Writer will play a strategic and instrumental role in securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government entities to support our expanding programs. This individual will be responsible for leading grant research, shaping funding strategy, drafting compelling proposals, and managing the full lifecycle of grants, from application through reporting. The ideal candidate is an experienced grant professional who is detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and passionate about YMU’s mission to provide equitable access to music education.

Key Responsibilities:
Grant Strategy Development:

Lead the development and execution of YMU’s comprehensive grant strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and funding priorities.

Grant Prospecting:

Conduct in-depth research to identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with YMU’s mission and programs.

Proposal Development:

Write and submit high-quality, persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials.

Grant Management:

Oversee and manage the lifecycle of grants, including tracking deadlines, requirements, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with funder expectations.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the CEO, development team, program staff, and finance team to gather data, success stories, and programmatic outcomes that support proposals and reports.

Reporting:

Prepare and submit accurate, timely grant reports, including financial documentation and impact assessments, fostering transparency and trust with funders.

Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, and grants management for non-profit organizations, with a focus on the arts, education, or youth development sectors.

Track Record:

Proven track record of successful grant applications, including securing large, multi-year grants.

Research Skills:

Strong research skills to identify and evaluate potential funding sources.

Writing Skills:

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

Grant Management Tools:

Familiarity with grant management software and donor databases (e.g., Network for Good, Bloomerang).

Technology Skills:

Proficient in using cloud-based collaboration tools such as Google Drive, Google Docs, and other shared technologies to manage grant materials and collaborate effectively.

Strategic Vision:

Ability to align grant opportunities with organizational goals and funding priorities.

Independence and Collaboration:

Capable of working independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Attention to
