Base Salary $120-150k The Chief Development & Marketing Officer (CDMO) provides strategic direction and leadership for all philanthropy efforts including special events, individual and corporate giving, planned giving and volunteers. The CDMO is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive results driven fundraising strategy while cultivating strong relationships with the Board of Directors, staff and various donor segments. The CDMO also provides strategic direction and leadership to the marketing and community relations team. The CDMO is a key member of the senior leadership team.
Job Description:
Conveys strategic prowess and social intelligence required to help leverage RMHCCF brand, assets, relationships, and opportunities to meet aggressive growth goals.
Accountable for the achievement of the Charity’s annual and long-term revenue goals through the development, management, and delivery of a balanced fundraising strategy incorporating individual and corporate giving, planned giving, and foundation and grant making.
Leads the development of multi-year strategic fundraising plans in alignment with RMHCCF’s organizational priorities and strategic plan.
Leads fundraising for capital campaigns or other special projects.
Oversees the strategic positioning of all special events. Ensures alignment with overall fundraising goals and donor engagement strategies.
Ensures leadership of assigned Board committees and sub-committees; presents at Board related meetings as requested.
Ensures effective leadership of the Key Initiative young professionals committee.
Manages risk and contracts associated with special events in partnership with the Chief Administrative Officer.
Works cross-functionally with other departments to drive fundraising impact and raise mission awareness.
Develops clear processes, systems, and key performance measures (KPI’s) to monitor and ensure philanthropy and marketing program efficiency and growth performance.
Develops and implements strategies to advance RMHCCFs engagement in major gift/grant requests.
Develops and manages a personal portfolio of 40-60 current and prospective donors.
Oversees the development and implementation of a long-term stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.
Ensures the integrity of donor relationships and philanthropic agreements.
Partners with Marketing and Communications to ensure donor-facing messages, including proposals, impact reports, newsletters, and stewardship materials, are compelling, personalized, and mission-aligned.
Collaborates with the CEO to ensure that Board members and key volunteers are effectively engaged in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Provide tools, training, and support to maximize their philanthropic impact.
Plans and carefully manages the department budget; work closely with the finance department to ensure alignment of philanthropy goals and projections with financial allocations, strategies, reporting, and planning.
Oversees the administrative functions of fundraising, including budget preparation and adherence, legal issues, preparation of policies and procedures, and execution of donor agreements to improve quality and maintain regulatory compliance.
Stays abreast of philanthropic, economic, and social fundraising trends to ensure that the Board and staff are informed of changes and initiatives that might impact giving.
Expert on Charity programs, sharing the impact of the mission with donors in authentic and compelling ways.
Guides the strategic use of data analytics to inform decision-making, donor segmentation, and performance measurement.
Provides strategic leadership and management for the Development, Marketing and Community Partnership teams, fostering a high-performing culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Supervise staff across major gifts, annual giving, events, grants, and stewardship functions.
Leads staff assigned in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, setting and evaluating performance expectations.
Other duties as may be requested by the CEO.
Ancillary Job Functions
Serve as a staff liaison for the Board of Directors Development and Marketing Committees and related sub-committees, ensuring that Operations and Finance department efforts are incorporated into the agenda and strategy where appropriate.
Attend networking and other fundraising events in Central Florida and surrounding areas to support strategy.
Education/Experience:
Proven experience and knowledge in all aspects of nonprofit philanthropy including individual giving, campaigns, special events and programs, major gifts, foundation and corporate giving, direct mail, digital fundraising, marketing and community relations and volunteerism.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming and respectful environment for all donors, staff, and volunteers.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with ten years’ experience. Master’s degree and specialty fundraising and marketing certifications preferred.
Proven track record of building long-term, productive relationships with donors and philanthropic institutions
Proven accomplishment in meeting and growing organizational revenue goals.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex fundraising initiatives simultaneously.
Demonstrated success in managing and developing a remote or hybrid team, setting clear expectations, and fostering a results-oriented culture.
Experience with fundraising database programs (Raiser’s Edge preferred), Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, virtual technology, file storage and management.
Valid Florida driver’s license and operable vehicle.
