SUMMARY :

The Grants Director (has a passion for and is aligned with the Mission and Values of St. Vincent de Paul CARES, as well as the goal of ending homelessness and caring for the poor. The Grants Director is responsible for leading and managing the organization’s grant strategy, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and renewal grant opportunities from government entities, foundations, and corporations. This role oversees the full lifecycle of grants, from proposal development and submission to reporting and compliance, ensuring alignment with the organizational priorities and strategic goals. The Grants Director will lead and mentor a team of Grant Writers and facilitate collaboration with program staff and other departments within the organization to gather necessary information and develop compelling narratives and budgets. The Grants Director will ensure accurate record-keeping of grant activities using a grants management system, build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders, and prepare monthly reports to the Executive Team to secure any necessary approvals for grant applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Nothing in this job description restricts management’s rights to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at this time) Display a passion for the organization’s values and mission Develop and execute a comprehensive grants strategy aligned with organizational objectives Research and identify new and renewal grant opportunities and prepare and submit proposals for funding Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals and applications Oversee, write, maintain, and steward multi-million-dollar federal grants, and all other public and private grants Ensure proposals clearly align with funder priorities and program goals Work with the finance department and others in developing complex budgets Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information for grant proposals and ensure the implementation of grants when awarded Produce superior multimillion-dollar grant proposals and renewals Direct organizational efforts to: o Ensure adherence to all grant and reporting timelines o Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents o Manage and maintain timelines, grants, records, reporting, and other documentation utilizing a grants management system Manage a portfolio of grant funding streams to meet revenue goals Assist the development department’s strategy to maintain and increase private funding and sponsorships Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders Tell the organization’s story and outcomes to current and prospective funders Represent the organization to and interface with funders using a variety of communication formats, including in-person meetings Present proposals and reports at funder meetings when requested Supervise, train, and support a team of grant writers and other grant staff Set team goals, timelines, and conduct performance evaluations Maintain proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and programs Stay up-to-date on best practices and trends to ensure the agency’s success

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Complies with all applicable training requirements. Complies with all company safety, personnel, and operational policies and procedures. Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs. Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team. Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the agency’s mission.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

(Pending on position and if prior to hire is approved by Chief Executive Officer, a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum education qualifications) Bachelor’s degree, with master’s degree preferred Five to seven years’ demonstrated ability to lead and direct a successful multimillion-dollar grants program High level of computer literacy Ability to understand and help construct required, often complex, budgets for applications. Experience writing federal, state, city, and private foundation applications Experience in non-profit social services and program operations is highly desirable

GENERAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents/clients.
