Operation Restoration (OR) supports women and girls impacted by incarceration to recognize their full potential, restore their lives, and discover new possibilities. At OR, we focus on advocacy, education, economic mobility, and true economic equity for our staff, clients, and community. Our goal is to remove financial incentives for incarceration/detention to increase investments in social services, education, and healthcare for all people. Incarceration is defined as confinement in prison, jail, immigrant, juvenile or military detention, or a deportation facility. Directly impacted women and girls are those that are or have been incarcerated, arrested, are on probation and/or parole. About the

Position:

Under the direction of the President & CEO, the Grants Specialist position is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of growth and fund development for Operation Restoration. This position provides leadership on grant writing and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Organizes, attends, and follows up on meetings involving the President & CEO related to growth & development initiatives. Ensures that the organization meets all requirements, including outputs and outcomes, outlined in agreements with funders. Contributes to building a culture of philanthropy that leads to increased revenues and support within the community connected to Operation Restoration. Research growth and development opportunities for the organizations to identify and maintain a prospect portfolio to manage cultivation and solicitation calls; to include individual, corporate, and foundation prospects. Tracks all grant activities and contacts using the organization’s customer relationship management system (CRM), and maintains a database of funders. Ensures that all recognition and follow-up are tracked, recorded, and executed in an timely and appropriate manner. Works with the finance department to ensure efficient grant processing Forward any communications materials, messaging, and requirements to communications team. Write and submit grant proposals and reports, and collaborate with OR staff when writing grants and reports. Manage communications with funders, including follow-up, sending agreements, etc. Provide a weekly update to the executive team about grant proposals and reports due. Manage grants email by replying to inquiries in a timely manner and uploading final documents to the Grants Shared Drive Manage the Grants Shared Drive by uploading final documents, creating folders, etc. Manage grants calendar to include all grant deadlines, and send reminders to staff members when needed. Supervise consultants providing fund development support to OR, including but not limited to regular check-ins, review of deliverables and submission of invoices to Finance. Collaborate daily with Operation Restoration staff to ensure organizational effectiveness. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties related to growth and development, as assigned.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

At least 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit or public sector 3-5 years of experience in fund development Strong persuasive writing skills required. Strong, proactive project management skills with solid experience managing and coordinating research projects, and high-impact fund development campaigns. Deep commitment to social justice, with an understanding of the needs of the communities that OR serves and a track-record of securing funds for social justice organizations Strategic, tactful, self-aware and authentic leader able to influence at the functional and organizational levels Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays Operation Restoration and its programs. Excellent computer skills. Regular use of Microsoft Office and Google products Experience with a database management (CRM) system. Ability to work well with diverse individuals and groups, balance needs and employ objectivity. Ability to manage timelines, prioritize multiple products and meet demanding deadlines.
