Full Job Description Job Summary:
The
HOME-ARP
Shelter Diversion Specialist provides assessment services and case management support for those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, focusing on housing and homeless prevention aimed at diverting households from the emergency shelter system. The position is located at the O’Reilly Center for Hope.
Evaluation:
The Senior Director of Homeless Services will evaluate the
HOME-ARP
Shelter Diversion Specialist, following adopted policies and practices of Community Partnership of the Ozarks.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other related field is required; Proven written and oral communication skills; Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet; Must be comfortable working with diverse populations, including high risk and homeless households; Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; Must have a valid driver’s license (Class E).
Essential Functions:
Meets with clients to complete screenings and assessments to determine need and program eligibility; Works with clients to establish action plans to increase housing and financial stability; Engages clients in problem-solving dialogue to assess for additional resources a client may be able to access within their network; Connects clients with appropriate partner agencies through referral and follows up to ensure connections were made; Works with landlords and property managers to identify and achieve permanent housing solutions; Provides mediation assistance to encourage family reunification, conflict resolution, and landlord or other party reconciliation; Maintains records of funds spent; ensures reporting is completed as specified by funding source; Enters, updates, and maintains data in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS); Provides and facilitates crisis intervention assistance as needed; Completes required documentation to ensure compliance and ascertain the effectiveness of diversion activities; Tracks and reports progress and services for each client receiving diversion assistance and the project as a whole; Advocates for clients’ needs; Participates in CPO’s resource development/fundraising activities; Driving is an essential job function of this job position; Other duties as assigned.

The position of
HOME-ARP
Shelter Diversion Specialist is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
