Due to critical service need of the communities we serve, we areoffering a $1000.00 sign-on bonus.• We are eager to continue toprovide quality and compassionate care in our service areas andneed you to make this happen! This is a Full-time, benefit eligibleposition. Peer Specialists ignite the spark of hope that recoveryis possible while promoting skills for coping with and managingsymptoms and encouraging the use of natural supports andenhancement of community living skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOBSPECIFIC

Sharing lived experiences of recovery, sharing, andsupporting the use of recovery tools and modeling successfulrecovery behaviors Helping individuals recognize their capacity forresilience Helping individuals to connect with other consumers andwith their community at large Helping individuals who have mentalillnesses and substance use disorders develop a network forinformation and support Assisting individuals to make independentchoices and to take a proactive role in their treatment Assistingindividuals with identifying strengths and personal resources toaid in their recovery and helping individuals set and achieverecovery goals Participates as a member of the treatment team,giving input on client Wellness Plans and treatment team decisionsUntil fully certified, Peer Specialists complete trainings, attendteam meetings, shadow CSSs and other PSSs, and, with Supervisorydirection, see clients, both in supervised and independent fashion,but do not bill Medicaid for services until full certification isachieved Assist client with transportation as clinically indicated;Driving is an essential function of this position Other duties asassigned High School/GED required

WORK EXPERIENCE

Mustself-identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health,substance use, or co-occurring disorder services Must complete astate-approved training program, pass a standardized examination,complete certification process within 60 days of hire date, andmaintain ongoing certification as a Certified Peer Specialistthrough the MCB (MO). Required only when applicable.
