About the Position
(This is a

NON-STATE, TIME LIMITED

position.) The candidate will provide support for projects within the Bureau of Policy and Practice, Office of Research and Policy, to include, but not limited to, providing support to stakeholder engagement efforts within the Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Special Education, and providing support to schools, districts, and parents. This position is a stakeholder engagement specialist and is within the Bureau of Policy and Practice, Office of Research and Policy in the Office of Special Education (OSE). Duties will include providing support to stakeholder engagement activities regarding policies and procedures, data collection and reporting, technical assistance offerings, developing applicable reports, and other duties as assigned. The candidate must possess knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), IDEA’s implementing regulations, and State Board of Education policies.

Examples of Work
Second-level professional Educational Program position providing guidance and consultation services in moderately complex and specialized fields of educational programs. Incumbents provide assistance and may advise other members of the department staff as well as to school Administrators and other agencies, institutions, or departments. The work involves analysis of problems and educational needs of schools and may recommend corrective action necessary to maintain education standards commensurate with the needs of the school and community in meeting minimum state and federal requirements. May also be accountable for assisting in developing, scheduling, and screening of educational and other related programming. May assist to support program compliance with state and federal laws.
