In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the Campus Facilities Operations & Development Officer holds the responsibility for the day-to-day operations and administration of campus facilities, including all University-owned buildings, grounds, and equipment. The Campus Facility Operations & Development Officer has full oversight and supervision responsibility for the following
Units:
Custodial Services, Facility Maintenance, Landscaping, and Inventory & Receivables Management. The Campus Facility Operations & Development Officer has the critical duty of providing service to the University by: Overseeing the routine and emergency maintenance, including repairs and facility operations. Enforcing health and safety policies and procedures, conducts inspections, and trains staff on emergency procedures. Planning and allocating office space, manages moves, renovations, and redesigns, and maintains records of occupancy. Enforcing regulations for environmental protection, hazardous materials, and chemical substances. Assisting with securing external funding for campus facility operations and development. Assisting other employees with development efforts and supports teaching staff as directed by the Chief of Staff.

CRITICAL NEED FOR CAMPUS FACILITY OPERATIONS & DEVELOPMENT
As Voorhees University develops strategies to increase enrollment, identifying strategies for varied resource development is equally imperative. The strategic plan advances the essential journey of aggressively expanding external grant funding, leading to foundation support. External funding intersects with a larger vision for systemic change in fundraising strategies and trajectory that will significantly increase the awareness of the University as a national leader and as a high-performing, academically and research-sound institution. More specifically, external funding will greatly assist Voorhees University in establishing broad, impactful, transformational educational opportunities for first•and second-year learners, learners in transition, online learners, adult learners, and international learners. The Campus Facility Operations and Development Officer will serve as critical caveat to achieving the vision, mission, and goals of the University and advancing the University to The Next Level of Excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reports to the Chief of Staff. Develops a master plan for the transformation and maintenance of the University’s 386 acre-campus. Develops, implements, and supervises a system of management for the operation of the physical plant work force that includes maintenance, grounds, and custodial services. Provides direct support and supervision of service to all Living and Learning Communities. Develops methods and timetables for work accomplishment. Develops and maintains appropriate work schedules and work records for all personnel employed in the department. Directs planning and project developments for assigned projects in conjunction with external vendors for major and minor projects. Prepares budget for unit and monitors expenditures. Supervises, evaluates, and recommends the appointment or reappointment of all personnel employed in the department. Complete all required reporting for the physical plant area. Conduct safety training (as needed) and workshops for staff. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff and the President’s designees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires work that involves nonaerobic physical activity such as excessive walking, bending, stooping, repetitive hand use, and regular lifting of weights. It also requires climbing stairs .
EDUCATION
Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree or associate degree with five (5) progressive years of experience considered
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Experience successfully supervising and managing personnel. A record of successful program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Demonstrated record of successfully planning and executing activities to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for students, faculty members, and staff members. The incumbent must have demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Weekend and Evening required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Exercised ability to manage within complex academic organizations, work effectively and collegially with all members of the campus and community. Exhibit excellent communication skills, sound judgement and decisive leadership. Demonstrated history of strong leadership and successful implementation of complex initiatives. Previous experience working in a liberal art, preferably HBCU environment. Strong written and oral communication proficiency. Exceptional management competency. Leadership driven by Policy and Procedures. Internal and external relationship building. Superior knowledge of industry regulations and operational guidelines. In-depth knowledge of data analysis software packages. Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) packages. Exercised ability to review, implement, and manage work in complex academic organizations. Work effectively and collegially with all members of the campus and community. Exhibit excellent communication skills, sound judgement and decisive leadership. Demonstrated history of strong leadership and successful implementation of complex initiatives. Demonstrated experience with budget management.
